Gillig Recall 24V811000: Visibility, Windshield Wiper/washer

NHTSA recall 24V811000 · announced October 29, 2024 · filed by Gillig, Llc · 611 units affected

The problem

Gillig, LLC (Gillig) is recalling certain 2024 Low Floor buses. A defective welded joint may cause the wiper arm to suddenly fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 104, "Windshield Wiping and Washing Systems."

The risk

Inoperative wipers can reduce the driver's ability to see out of the windshield, increasing the risk of a crash.

What to do

Gillig will replace the wiper motor arm, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 12, 2024. Owners may contact Gillig customer service at 1-800-735-1500.
